This is one of those celebrity deaths that I find particularly hard to take. 69 is obviously way too young to die but it's made even worse by the fact that Patty Duke is burned into my mind as somebody forever young.

As a kid, in the days of two TV channels, only a handful of shows imprinted their lasting presence on me. Watching THE PATTY DUKE show is one of my earliest and clearest memories. Even though I saw her in dozens of other productions over the years, she was always the eternal teenager to me.
