Thanks, Pye.
Syfi must really like Clarke, considering that it recently aired another of his stories, CHILDHOOD'S END. I missed that one, but from what I've read here and on other sites, it wasn't very good. Hopefully 3001 will be better executed.
Speaking of Clarke's books, I recall seeing him on a talk show in the late'80s or early '90s, maybe on Johnny Carson*, plugging the upcoming release of the movie based upon his 3rd book, 2061. Since then, I have not been able to find evidence that it ever went into production, but I'm sure that's what he said. Does anyone know about this? Obviously the movie was never released, but was it ever even considered? Or is my memory flawed?
*Now that ANTENNA TV is replaying all of the existing Carson shows, maybe I'll see that episode again some day.
