Other than my fascination with 3D printing, It is the next industrial revolution! The president has directed that 5 3D technology centers be set up, to keep up with and advance the technology. They combine industry and universities. The one in Iowa is already operating.
As you can see from the wide range of uses I have posted there is no part of our lives that will not be affected by it. This technology is a great equalizer, you can own and operate these marvelous devices.
They print anything, from DNA to rocket motors. There is already work on bringing the print level down to the atomic level. They are creating new classes of super materials by printing together elements in ways that cannot be achieved any other way!
Off planet this is your cup of tea. |

I found the post above, made in Nov 2014, in the "View unanswered posts" section and realized that the predictions it stated are most definitely coming true at furious pace.
The video above is fascinating, and the one below is fun and informative. What a marvelous technological innovation 3D printing is, and I've learned a lot about it from Pye-rate's frequent posts on the subject.
Has anybody else here had that same experience?

As laser carving techniques improve any media can potentially be used as a base material. The use of 3-d printing to create molds for casting is also growing in use. |
