Reminds me a bit of jumanji. Did the guy seriously say their was a Unicorn in the box, it should have been Ivan the Terrible's dentures or something.
One of my favorite scifi movies is Solaris(1972), based on Stanilaw Lem's book. It has those slow scenes and artistic shots that 2001 has, so it was sort of the Russian attempt at making a Stanley Kubrick scifi flick.
Does anyone know any other good Russian scifi movies? |

Aelita (1924) was the first Soviet SF film, Battle Beyond the Sun (1959), Engineer Garin was made into film twice, in 1965 and in 1973, Planet of Storms (1962), Amphibian Man (1962),The Andromeda Nebula (1967), Ivan Vasilyevich (1973), Andrey Tarkovsky's Stalker (1979), Dead Mountaineer's Hotel (1979), Electronic (1980),
Per Aspera Ad Astra (1981),
Mystery of the Third Planet (1981), Guest From the Future (1985), Two Tickets to India (1985), The Pass (1988), Heart of a Dog (1988), Sannikov's Land (1974), Electronic (1980), Hard to Be a God (1989), The Witches Cave (1990).
The ones in blue are ones that I've seen.
Theses are (of course) the English translations of the titles. Many of them had bits and pieces used in many low budget US films. _________________ Common Sense ISN'T Common |

I'm not sure Amphibian Man counts as science fiction. Borderline, maybe. It's about a guy who can breathe underwater like a fish, but it's really more of an old-fashioned romantic fantasy-adventure. It's a beautifully photographed film. |
