An Italian/German seven part miniseries from 1987. I had never heard of this until I came upon some photos on line a month ago. Last weekend, I ended up watching the whole series in one sitting, because I thought that it was only three, or four episodes, not seven!

I have never read the novel, and it has been a few decades since I have seen any version of "Treasure Island", so I can't say how close it follows the novel, or other movies. But the set design and production values for this series is very impressive. The SPFX aren't bad either. It has an international cast, with Anthony Quinn playing Long John Silver.

The series is on YouTube, in English with occasional scenes in German, then back to English.

We discussed this short series very briefly in the thread called Sci Fi film and TV series I am trying to track down in our section called Sci-Fi Discussions in General.

I found Treasure Island in Outer Space listed on IMDB (click on the link), and the five episodes of this 1987 series are available on Youtube. Here's episode one.

This looks like it might be fun!

You're very welcome Bud, but be aware that it is 7 episodes, not 5. I know, because I ended up watching all the episodes last Saturday. It wasn't intentional, I just didn't realize how many episodes there were, and once I hit episode 4, I figured I might as well finish it.

The episodes run about 50 minutes each. The title doesn't lie, it is literally Treasure Island in Outer Space, but taking place in the 24th century.

I don't understand how I never even heard of this until a month ago. Especially after seeing the production values they put into it.

Edit: Bud, I just went look at your post you mentioned, and I don't know how I could have missed that one. I found the series when I went looking for photos from the show. One was a link to YouTube. There aren't many photos out there, which is a shame.

Well, I'll be darned. Even though IMDB only lists 5 episodes, there are (as you said) 7 episodes listed on Youtube at the link below.

I'm downloading these right now, and I'll get my pal Bulldogtrekker to watch them with me soon while we chat on Facebook from two different dimensions!

(One dimension is called North Carolina and the other is called South Carolina).
