Over at Dreams of Space — Books and Ephemera [ http://dreamsofspace.blogspot.com/ ] they have a 1956 Japanese Space book with this image of a radar:



I wonder of the creators of Forbidden Planet knew of this as it suspiciously looks like it might have inspired the look of the quad blaster. Can anyone tell me what kind of radar it is?
