It all depends on what they do with the properties they've acquired. We've seen jackasses take over studios and screw them up, and we've seen good people take charge who did wonderful things.
In the end, it's not the name of the owners that make the difference, it's the degree of talent the guys at the top do-or-don't have. _________________ ____________

So Disney now owns in addition to 20th Century Fox Studio:the Muppets, ABC TV Network, Star Wars, and Marvel.
I don't believe that if Walt himself was alive . . . .and as great a visionary as he wa . . . .he could have guessed that the company he and his brother created would have acquired all these properties. |

They own almost everything! Disney's contract with advertisers on TV included One share each time the product was advertised. See my post on The Tripods. _________________ ____________

Yes, but Walt's studio was turning out amazing things while other studios were doing less impressive work.
I'm not saying the Disney folks will be better than the studios they've acquired . . . but they seem to understand the value of giving the public the highest quality films they can.
We'll just have to wait and see if they live up to the expectations we have. _________________ ____________

Like in any merger, the ax has started to fall. The estimates run from 3,000 to as high as 10,000 people getting pink slips. Even Disney employees are scared. I wonder if Disney is going to keep the Fox Studio lot, are are going to sell it off

That's unfortunate. It hadn't occurred to me that the merger would be so disruptive the folks who work there. I'm not surprised, of course, but I hadn't thought about that aspect. _________________ ____________
