David Hedison has passed away at 92.
He is remembered for the classic 50's horror film "The Fly."
In 1960 he was part of the cast of Irwin Allen's "The Lost World."
However,he probably best remembered as Captain Lee Crane of the futuristic submarine Seaview on Irwin Allen's sci~fi TV series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.'' |

Sad news indeed, David.
Mr. Hedisons gave a wonderful portrayal of the brilliant scientist in The Fly who wanted to alleviate world hunger with a machine which would (among other amazing benefits) send food surpluses to famine stricken areas in seconds.
He was equally impressive as the poor victim when his device turned him into a terrifying freak.
Mr. Hedison's voice was especially appealing, which made his dialogue a joy to hear. For the record, in addition to his tour of duty on the Seaview, he served aboard another fictional vessel in The Enemy Below (1957) under the command of Robert Mitchum on a destroyer which spent the entire movie battling with . . . a submarine.
Nice bit of irony, eh?
David Hedison's appearance in The Lost World (1960) is a plus for that flawed film (along with the presence of Michael Rennie and Jill St. John, who looked mighty Pretty in Pink).
