Dragonslayer (1981)
Verithrax Perjorative Vs the Rancor:
I wonder who would win? And what about Vermithrax Perjorative Vs the Ymir? or The rancor Vs. the Ymir? _________________ ____________

The Verithrax has a built-in flamethrower, so that's a really big advantage. Very few, if any creatures likes getting flamed.

Yeah. If Vermothrax saw it coming the Rancor would be toast... burnt toast. |

But can the Ymir take the heat? The average temperature on Venus is 864 degrees Fahrenheit (462 degrees Celsius). _________________ ____________

Good point. The Ymir also eats sulphur as I recall. So flame breath might not be effective against it. I’d still go with Vermathrax though. He has powerful wings and could possibly swoop down to grab the Ymir and carry it high up in the air before letting it drop to its death.
Might do the same thing to the Rancor.
Now if the Ymir or Rancor could somehow get in close and get the dragon in a headlock, then Vermithrax could be in real trouble. |

Good question. There is a difference between being able to withstand ambient heat and pressurized, directed flame. It would probably depend on how tough the Ymir's hide is.
Even if the Ymir can withstand the flame, it's eyes may be vulnerable to the flame.

We should remember that that 20 Million Miles to Earth was not about a manned mission to the "real" Venus, so the Ymir didn't live on a planet with a surface temperature of 800°.
Besides, we see the Italian military shoot a flame thrower at the Ymir on two occasions — once near the waterfall before he was electrocuted, and later when he was rampaging around Rome.
It screamed and fled in pain both times. _________________ ____________
