The first movie listed below is a fond favorite of mine because I first saw it at the Scott Drive-In in Atlanta in early 1972. The other two films from the Apes series came out shortly after that, but I was never a fan of the series and didn’t see them until much later, on television.
The 1970s had its fair share of apocalyptic movies, such as A Boy and His Dog, Soylent Green, and Zardoz. The optimistic 1950s were long gone, and the radical 1960s were fading in the rear view mirror.
I guess that why Star Wars caught everybody be surprise and became a worldwide sensation!
