On the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode Whispers we learned what happened to the C-57-D.:
It says that on stardate "47542.0 C-57-D Lunar Recycling Capt J. J. Adams".
So it apparently had a long career after Forbidden Planet and that Commander John Justin Adams was promoted to Captain.
He is presumably a descendant of US Secret Service agent & hero who was wounded while protecting the President in the TV series 24. _________________ ____________
