A Scientist is found frozen to death in a mountaintop research station studying primates. Two scientists (Robert Culp and Eli Wallach) are sent to the station to continue the research and try and unravel the mystery of what happened to their colleague. At first all goes well, then mysterious things start to happen, causing the two scientists start to distrust each other.

An eerie movie with a memorable ending. It is basically a two man movie with good performances from Culp and Wallach. That's as far as I am going to go, as the movie is available on YouTube.

It is indeed available on YouTube, but one version is fair and the other is horrendous. The link to fair version is below. The scenes which take place in dark rooms are very hard to make out.

The small portion I watched (a scene in the room with the pool table at the 20-minute mark) quickly demonstrates the character dynamics of the stoy; Eli Wallach is friendly, and Robert Culp is a sore puss who reminds me of the guys in The Thing (1982) — which is ironic in view of the fact that the story takes place in a snowbound area during a severe winder storm, and the research station in a quonset hut.

So, the story has the same quality as The Thing!
