A state trooper and a group of motorists at a roadblock learn that an atomic attack is imminent.

Fear is the driving force in this gritty little melodrama, realistic in some ways, but illogical in others.

A prime example of the illogical story elements is the fact that when the attack comes, some of the motorist survive by hiding in their vehicles, while others die because they stay outside. I'm pretty sure none of these folks would have survived, even if some of them had hidden in lead-line refrigerators. Rolling Eyes

But the film does have its fair share of dramatic moments. Starring Seamon Glass and Mary Morlas. Directed by F. Gadette.

I was pretty sure YouTube would have this rare movie, and by gum they do. You can tell from the way the longer names in the title work run off the screen that this 4:3 version is a clipped widescreen image.

There are several YouTube providers of the movie, but they all look the same, except for one which has a 4:3 image stretched horizontally. (Good Lord, are there really people who think that makes it better? Kinda sad, ain't it? Rolling Eyes)

Anyway, if you've always wondered about this one and you've got an hour and twelve minutes to kill, her ya go. Enjoy.

Here's another YouTube member who has created Drive-in Double Feature videos which includes a vintage drive-in "welcome messages”, the trailer for the movies, and a double feature

It even has those great old “snack bar” promos during intermission!

"So, get comfortable, folks! Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!" Very Happy

Enjoy!

Starring a group of mostly unknown actors, This Is Not a Test begins with lone deputy sheriff Dan Colter (Seamon Glass) receiving orders to block a road leading into an unidentified city (dialogue indicates the location is somewhere in central California, however).

Soon, he has detained several vehicles with a variety of occupants ranging from an elderly man and his granddaughter, to a man who has recently become rich and his alcoholic wife, to a trucker and a hitchhiker.

The motorists and the police officer hear attack warnings over the police radio and begin to prepare for the inevitable bombing.

The film focuses on the reactions to the impending attack by the motorists, and the officer's efforts to keep order. Complicating matters is the revelation that the hitchhiker Clint Delany (Ron Starr) is a psychotic who is wanted for murder.

As the countdown to the missile attack continues, the men and women try desperately to convert a supply truck into an impromptu bomb shelter.

As time goes by, the deputy's behavior becomes irrational and the film ends with the deputy trying to enter the closed-up truck where the others have sheltered just as the nuclear strike happens.

What condition the survivors find when they exit the shelter is not disclosed.

I have watched this film several times, and it is quite entertaining and compelling given the rather lackluster acting.

It is definitely a low-budget affair, but the premise is sound, and I think that an updated version of this would be tremendous.

It can be found on Amazon Prime.
