This a seriously creepy take on The Brain that Wouldn't Die.

From IMDB:

A scientist invents a serum that keeps a dog's head alive after its body dies. When the scientist dies of a heart attack, his crazed assistant cuts off his head and, using the serum, keeps the doctor's head alive and forces it to help him on an experiment to give his hunchbacked nurse assistant a new body.

But which picture came first? The Brain that Wouldn't Die (aka The Head that Wouldn't Die) was completed in 1959 under the working title The Black Door, but wasn't theatrically released until May 3, 1962.

You're right, Scot. I'm glad I said it was "a different take" on the idea, meaning that if addressed the same concept, regardless of which came first. Very Happy

And since both films were made in 1959, we can't really say that one inspired the other, right? Confused

I might just give it a look.

I love the way the poster uses the hideous severed head and a beautiful shapely girl. Classic horror/sci-fi strategy to appeal to young boys.

Nothing says, "This movie has gross stuff AND sexy girls! Go see it, guys!"
