This wonderful video presents the development of the most amazing aircraft ever conceived, and it was almost perfected by a soviet genius who — prior to his death — would have revolutionized transportation with a futuristic vehicle that dwarfs the capabilities of anything we have today . . . as well as some of the aircraft which S.H.I.E.L.D. developed, including a flying aircraft carrier, along with super fast commercial aircraft!
This is not some bogus conspiracy theory about the coverup of Nazi flying saucers! This is a super-machine which could-and-should be built today.
Behold . . . true science fact that looks remarkably like science fiction.
Strangest Aircraft Ever Built: The Soviet Union's VVA-14

Those illustrations look like ground-effect vehicles. While technically aircraft, they can't "fly" higher than a few dozen feet. They're designed to take advantage of ground effect, a phenomenon in which an airplane’s lift is increased and its drag is decreased due to the wings being close to the ground. |

Please enjoy the eleven-minute video!
The amazing VVA-14 was indeed a ground effect vehicle — but it could also fly at high altitudes.
Please note the thumbnail from the YouTube video, showing the aircraft in flight.
It was intended to eventually have inflatable pontoons for take offs from water and perform vertical take-offs and landings by using several rows of "lifting jets" which would allow the huge aircraft to actually hover!
The Wikipedia article list these specifications.
~ Maximum speed: 760 km/h (470 mph, 410 kn)
~ Cruise speed: 640 km/h (400 mph, 350 kn)
~ Range: 2,450 km (1,520 mi, 1,320 nmi)
~ Service ceiling: 8,000–10,000 m (26,000–33,000 ft)
The article also says, "The aircraft conducted 107 flights, with a total flight time of 103 hours."
So, it could actually fly at a speed of 470 mph and an altitude of 33,000 feet. The video includes film footage of it taking off from a runway, as shown from this screen shot.
And just wait 'till you to see the plans for a larger version which would have actually been an aircraft carrier — although that version was a ground effect vehicle only.
But think of the speed advantage over regular aircraft carriers! _________________ ____________
