Back in my teenage days when I enjoyed listening to WQXI AM on a plastic radio on the night stand in my room (a station also known as Quixie in Dixie ) — and then decades later in the 1980s when I listened to WFOX FM (known as F0X 97.1, an "Oldies Station" in Atlanta) I was sometimes treated to "novelty songs" which became hits.
These were funny musical creations which left the listeners laughing hysterically!
Here's a few examples. The first one is a parody of a popular country song called "Almost Persuaded".
Sheb Wooley As "Ben Colder" ~ Almost Persuaded No.2
__________
This next one is a disturbing parody of J. Frank Wilson's 1961 hit, Last Kiss.
_____ Jimmy Cross - I Want My Baby Back (1965)
__________
This enjoyable hit by the one-hit-wonders, known as The Hollywood Argyles is still a favorite of mine.
___________ Alley Oop - The Hollywood Argyles
__________
_______________________ Hey, Mr. Custer!
__________
Back in the 1990s, two morning show DJs on F0X 97.1 who were known as Randy and Spiff cracked up their listeners with this hysterical song, which they played periodically for several weeks.
My teenage daughter, (All Sci-Fi member Ticket2theMoon), loved it as much as I did.
__________Wet Dream - Kip Addotta (7” Single)
__________
Those same two morning show DJs also entertained their listeners with this next hysterical song, which was performed on The Tonight Show years earlier.
_______________ ♥♪♫ The Pretty Little Dolly ♫♪♥
__________
The performance was eventually released on a 45 rpm record. The sound level is lower on the original version above from The Tonight Show, but it shows Miss Mona Abboud performing it for Johnny Carson.
Watching Mr. Carson's reactions during her performance adds a great deal to the humor, even though the wonderful lyrics are a bit less audible.
Listen again and you'll laugh even more!
_________ Mona Abboud - The Pretty Little Dolly
