I suspect that if anybody adds to the threads below it will be to verify the negative comments which other posts included.

But sometimes it's as much fun to talk about a bad movie as it is to talk about a good one. Ice Pirates, for example, was supposed to be a serious movie, but it was turned into a very un-funny comedy. Sad

The Return (1980)

Opening Statement: IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.

~ Cybill Shepherd recalled in her autobiography "Cybill Disobedience" (2000) that it was "not quite the worst movie ever made, but it close" and that the cast were "a rather sad group of actors, all trying to resurrect our diminished careers. [Raymond Burr] read his lines off a TelePrompter."

Note from me: This certainly doesn't encourage anyone to watch this movie.

The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)

Opening Statement: IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.

~ According to rumor, after the studio fired original director Richard Stanley, he convinced the makeup crew to turn him into one of the background mutants, so he could keep tabs on the making of his dream project. He supposedly did not unmask himself until the wrap party.

Note from me: This is a wild story!

Ice Pirates (1984)

Opening Statement: IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.

~ The film was intended to be a serious sci-fi film with a $20 million budget. MGM slashed the budget to $8 million and had the script rewritten as a comedy.

Note from me: I saw it when the movie waw first released, and I don't remember it being overly funny . . . but that's been 26 years.
