What's on the menu today? Confused

~ A philosophical question for the members of All Sci-Fi

~ A popular series which inspired kids from the 1950s.

~ A lunar mission that finds a race of beautiful women. Makes you wonder what the Apollo astronauts didn't tell us about the Moon landings! Wink

What is science fiction?

Opening Statement: According to Merriam-Webster, this is the definition of science fiction.
___________________________________

science fiction - noun

Fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual or imagined science on society or individuals, or having a scientific factor as an essential orienting component.

Admittedly I don't stick strictly to that definition on All Sci-Fi when placing movies and shows into sci-fi forums.

However, I can make a good case for productions like the Bond and Bond-like spy movies being sci-fi, simply because the whole spy craze was (in varying degrees) about agents with high-tech devices and advanced machines, battling villains who used cutting-edge science for nefarious purposes.

Adventures of Superman!

Opening Statement: ~ When the series was picked up by Kellogg's, the breakfast cereal manufacturer, some of the cast members were able to make extra money by appearing in Kellogg's commercials. This did not include Phyllis Coates or Noel Neill. It was felt that Lois Lane having breakfast with Clark Kent was too suggestive.

Note from me: "Mommy, if Clark and Lois have breakfast together, does that mean they live together and sleep together like you and daddy?"

Missile to the Moon (1958)

Opening Statement: IMDB has 11 trivia items for this production. I wasn't impressed with 10 of them, but the last one made me laugh! Very Happy

~ The tray of food which is served to the Earth people includes Girl Scout cookies — Samoas, Trefoils, Tagalongs.[color=darkblue]

Note from me:Good lord, if this doesn't suggest a funny parody of this alleged remake of Cat Women of the Moon, I don't know what does!

For example, imagine this.

An expedition journeys to the Moon and discovers the remnants of a race of elderly alien women — blue-haired grannies who adore cats and keep hundreds of them around their underground habitat.

And what tasty snacks do these adorable lunar grandmas serve their guest from Earth? Why, Girl Scout cookies, of course! Very Happy

But these Cat Grannies of the Moon have spiked the cookies with a drug to make the astronauts groggy and obedient.
Sad
