In today's Featured Thread I offered a few comments about the Skynet concept, IMDB says Steve McQueen's son was almost in The Blob remake, and Krel had an unusual idea about my favorite movie, The Space Children.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

Opening Statement: I think the initial premise of the original film has a serious flaw. Here's what I mean.

The Holy Grail of computer technology is to create an A.I. which is self aware. An accomplishment like this would be hailed as a stunning achievement!

And yet, this movie's basic story line states that mankind made a horrible mistake by creating an A.I. which became self-aware and promptly tried to eradicate mankind.

If the Skynet system is as intelligent as this franchise presents it, wouldn't it realize that destroying mankind and all of human civilization would have negative effects on it's own existence? After all, was Skynet designed to be totally self-sufficient?

The Blob (1988)

Opening Statement: ~ Chad McQueen was offered the part of "Brian Flagg" but turned it down for two reasons: (1) He disliked the script; (2) His strict policy of never performing in any production based on or inspired by his father Steve McQueen's work

Note from me: Chad McQueen has appeared in 26 productions, both movies and TV.

The Space Children (1958)

Opening Statement:

The aliens wanted to eliminate us, so they relied upon teams of loyal children all around the world to prevent mankind from surviving by blowing up the rockets, spreading lethal nuclear dust over the planet. The children had been duped!

Your comment made me wonder if the explosion of the rocket's warhead in The Space Children produced very much (it any) radiation at the launch site.

I don't think it would have, because the alien who mentally and physically guided the kids' sabotage operations would know how to create an explosion which would damage the rocket without exposing the bomb's nuclear fuel.
