On tap for today: the last Harryhausen film, and two classics from the 1940s.

Two of the posts even have TouTube versions of the full feature which include second features — just like the old drive-in movies!*

"Don't forget to visit our snack bar during intermission, folks!"

_____________ DRIVE-IN INTERMISSION TIME

Clash of the Titans (1981)

Opening Statement: Today I watched my download of this movie, and I realized that it made several fatal mistakes.

One of the biggest problems is that it chose to switch back and forth between stop motion and live action versions of a major character.

The way Calibos does. This simply does NOT work!

Admittedly the Calibos makeup is flawless, and the actor (Neil McCarthy) who played him did a fine job.

But switching back and forth between a stop motion version of the character and a live action version was just jarring and ineffective.

Dr. Renault's Secret (1942)

Opening Statement: Here's a real treat! A Double Feature with excellent picture quality and a brief intro with classic drive-in theater promos.

I have such fond memories of those promos. They always give me a good feeling. Very Happy

20TH CENTURY FOX HORROR DRIVE-IN DOUBLE FEATURE - DR. RENAULT'S SECRET and THE UNDYING

__________

The Undying Monster (1942)

Opening Statement: Ya gotta love a movie which includes a great scene like this! And the poster artist certainly made good use of it.

I haven't seen it, but YouTube has it, so maybe I'll watch it soon. Meanwhile, here's what IMDB has to say about it.

A werewolf prowls around at night but only kills certain members of one family. It seems like just a coincidence but the investigating Inspector soon finds out that this tradition has gone on for generations and tries to find a link between the werewolf and the family, leading to a frightening conclusion.
