Here’s a Jim Dandy idea!
Imagine a series of movies that involve missions by a secret organization called Scientific Investigations, Unlimited. The stories are sort of "spin offs" based on science fiction movies from the 1950s.
Picture a cool team of crack scientists who investigate shocking anomalies which appear anywhere in the world!
These stories would be like "side sequels" to the movies we've all seen from the fifties. They tell the stories of what was happening in secret during the events that make up the plots of these films.
In other words, "The Untold Story" behind the familiar plots of these movies.
The agents of Scientific Investigations, Unlimited conduct their own study of the strange events, without ever revealing their true identities to the characters in the movies.
These guys are like the Men In Black who secretly investigate various X-File like occurrences.
Here's a few examples.

One mission involves the investigation of giant sea slugs that appear in California's Salton Sea. The creatures suck the fluids from the bodies of several victims. Unbeknownst to the local folks we see in the movie, the team concludes their investigation by transporting one of the creates to their secret lab for further study.
The Monster that Challenged the World (1957)
Another mission takes the SIU team to Antarctica, where subterranean volcanic heat has created a hidden valley where prehistoric animals still exist! The teams mission takes place after the group in the helicopter discover the valley and then return to their US Navy vessel.
The Land Unknown (1957)
A third mission brings them face-to-face with a gigantic alien robot which was sent to Earth to drain all our energy! After the robot has been destroyed, SIU team locates the alien spacecraft submerged in the ocean off the coast of Mexico, and they manage to communicate with the aliens.
An alliance is formed between Earth and the aliens, whereby mankind and the alien race exchange technology.
Kronos (1957)

Guys, please add a few replies below by expanding on what I wrote above, or by suggesting a few movies that could serve as interesting missions for guys and gals from Scientific Investigations, Unlimited. _________________ ____________

Not sure if there are movies about crop circles (Signs etc.) but I think this would be a topic to delve into? |

Morbius, you're a genius! That's the perfect suggestion!
Even though Signs isn't a fifties movie, it doesn't matter. If ever there was movie that needed an "untold story" that filled in the missing plot elements, [b]Signs[/i] is it!
Think of all the unanswered question which this wonderful movie left us with!
~ Where did the aliens come from?
~ What did the really want?
~ Why weren't they wearing suits to protect them from water?
~ Why did they need crop circles to guide them to specific places if they had advanced technology?
~ Will they ever come back, now that we know they can be defeated by citizens armed with common garden hoses and fire trucks equipped with high pressure hoses that can blast the bastards into mush!
Obviously mankind will want to know how to deal with these strange creatures if they come back. And we can be sure they will have learn from their mistakes.
The question is . . . have we learned from ours? _________________ ____________
