Thinking Outside the "Plot"!
________________________________
~ A Question for the Members: Several dozen of the citizens in Sand Rock, AZ experienced the strange events which took place during the visit of the benevolent aliens in this movie — and at the end they all had ample evidence that these visitors from the stars meant them no harm!
So, what happened after the aliens departed peacefully in full view of the pose' which came to destroy them?
~ My Theory: Two possible scenarios occurred after the aliens returned to space.
(1) The townspeople would be afraid no one would believe their story and would refuse to share it with the outside world, or —
(2) Government authorities from The Blue Book Project would swoop in and question the whole town until they were all cross-eyed from talking about the incident!
Frankly, possibility #2 has been done to death, so I favor Possibility #1. It gives us a story in which a government team like the ones in The X-Files wander around Sand Rock and attempt to question people who know quite a lot . . . but reveal very little!
(I just tossed this out to encourage a discussion. I hope we get one.) _________________ ____________

Actually, this would make a great stand-alone story!
It begins with a pair of well-dressed, straight-laced government agents who come to Sand Rock, AZ, the day after the events in the 1953 movie.
They're here to investigate reports of a large object which crashed in the area.
But the citizens of this small town are afraid that if they try to tell anyone from outside their community about the strange events which occurred, they'd be ridiculed and laughed at!
After all, a story about an alien spacecraft which slammed into the desert and created a large crater . . . sounds ridiculous!
Furthermore, their claims that the spaceship survived the impact and was not damaged by the crash . . . sounds highly improbable.
And the story would become even more preposterous when the citizens claimed that alien shape-shifters roamed about the town and gathered up materials to make repairs on their ship because it was damaged in space!
The climax to the townspeople's unbelievable claims would involve a dramatic showdown between the aliens and a group of armed humans!
These impossible events allegedly end when the repaired spacecraft blasts its way out of the old mine shaft, launches itself out of the meteorite crater, and sails out into the night sky!
It wouldn't be surprising that the government agents are faced with citizens who are evasive and uncooperative. But they sense a massive coverup by these people, so they persevere in their efforts to find the truth.
Yes, i know . . . this sounds like a prefect X-Files scenario!
Cool, huh? D: _________________ ____________
