This 1973 Star Trek PSA Is One Of The Earliest Depictions Of Space Junk
Mark Strauss, I09
Star Trek predicted a lot of things we take for granted now — everything from tablet computers to cellphones. But this 1973 public service announcement, featuring the voices of the original cast, is one of the first depictions of the huge problem of space junk.
Star Trek: The Animated Series only ran from 1973-1974. But, that was enough time for Filmation to produce this brief message on behalf of the Keep America Beautiful campaign......

Years ago, an old friend of mine suggested that a high quality CGI versions of the Star Trek animated series might be a pretty good idea. I agreed.
His thinking was that we have the stories and the dialog (delivered by the original actors), but the animation is less than impressive. Therefore, why not give it a dynamic make-over with really good CGI versions of the stories, and include all the improvements in the set designs that this wonderful show desperately needs.
You know, make it look less like this —
— and more like this.

I agree completely!!!
BUT
The licensing nightmare would be endless.
So it would have to be a fan production. _________________ Common Sense ISN'T Common |
