Thinking Outside the "Plot"!
________________________________
~ A Question for the Members: Would the aliens who brought Kronos to Earth in their giant mothership to steal our energy (because their civilization desperately needed it) simply give up after we discovered an "Achilles heel" in their power-draining machine?
~ My Theory: No. Of course not.
They would learn from their mistake and send one-or-more "power collectors" to suck our planet dry!
In fact, the giant mother ship which brought Kronos to Earth and placed it on the beach in Mexico is shown submerging itself in the Atlantic! Do we have any reason to believe that it left after that?
No!
Therefore, gentlemen, I submit that the mother ship remained on the ocean floor and monitored Kronos' progress right up until the time it was destroyed by a lucky maneuver which mankind discovered!
When that happened, the aliens evaluated the situation, determined what caused the failure . . . and made alterations in the other Kronos "energy collectors" which the giant ship had in it's cargo hold.
If Hollywood had understood the value of sequels in the 1950s, they could have made two or three more follow-up movies for Kronos, each one featuring an increasing number of the giant robots . . . until we finally see a climax in which mankind is faced with a dozen of them — all marching in formation across the landscape as they relentlessly stole the energy we possessed, without even slowing down!
Thoughts, gentlemen? (Heck, I've got more ideas I didn't even include here! I sincerely hope you guys do as well.) _________________ ____________

I never could buy into that some alien civilization that had the technology for a starship or a gigundous robot such as Kronas, was stymied about how to create/maintain their highly advanced power sources.
How's about they sent the big K to Earth to drain our power in order to set us back from reaching the stars. Kind of a page from Klaatu. But here it isn't a thirty minute suspension of all of Earth's artificial power. The aliens in Kronos are out to cripple us permanently. They have a moral code (so to speak) to not murder us, they simply want us down on our knees.
That way, this mysterious civilization remains numero uno in the galaxy.
When they make the second attempt to drain off our power, they've also learned their lesson from Kronas number 1.The new Kronos is of an entirely different design. It also has flight capability. Its AI allows it to reinvent itself while its on its destructive mission. So Kronas always manages to look differently from the alterations & upgrades it makes. |

Good God A'mighty, Mike! You dazzled me with your brilliant concept!
You've completely FIXED this movie's flawed premise and opened the floodgates for several sequels that could have made this a 1950s franchise which would rival Independence Day!
The idea that the aliens sent Kronos to cripple us is so obvious that I'm ashamed I never thought of it.
They don't want to steal our energy! They just want to deprive us of it so we'll be easy to conquer.
Sir . . . I salute you. This is the kind of original thinking that All Sci-Fi was created for. _________________ ____________
