Two movies with “man” in the title and one with the word “Mars”.

Nothing unusual about that, of course. But the first man has “the power” and the second man ain’t got not body!

It that isn’t strange enough, the third movie’s title indicates that the Red Planet is desperately in need of female companionship!

Average high school teacher Bob Neill is approached by scientist Tim O'Conner and told that he's not so average; Neill's father was an alien, so Neill possesses unrealized powers of telekinesis, etc.

Neill is recruited as a government super-agent to guard a VIP Bengal princess (Persis Khambata from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture"). Also starring Vic Morrow and Roger Perry. Directed by Nicholas Sgarro. ____________________________________________________________________

The Man Without a Body (1957 England)



Scientist Robert Hutton ("The Colossus of New York") develops a process that rejuvenates dead flesh, enabling him to revive the severed heads of lab monkeys.

A millionaire with a brain tumor persuades him to revive the head of the legendary prophet Nostradamus ("The Man Who Saw Tomorrow") so that the prophet's brain can replace the millionaire's.

(That's right — he wants to replace his own brain. There's a joke about a blonde that wants to do this so she'll be smart, but we won't go into that now.)

The process works, and the bearded head of Nostradamus ends up on a lab table making feeble attempts to talk the scientist out of continuing this hideous experiment.

I swear to God, I'm not making this up.

When they finally graft the head onto the millionaire's body, the head is wrapped in a huge box-shaped mass of bandages, with a hole for the face.

Incredibly ridiculous.

The Nostradamus-head-with-a-new-body goes berserk, breaks out of the clinic, makes his way to a church, and hangs himself so efficiently that the rope yanks the head off and leaves it dangling.

No attempt at art or style is made by co-directors Charles Saunders and Lee Wilder (Billy's brother), no noteworthy special effects are presented, and no weirdly lit laboratory scenes are shown.

"The Man Without a Body" is a movie without a leg to stand on.

Tommy Kirk plays a Martian who comes to Earth to kidnap lady scientist Yvonne Craig (Batgirl). As a scientist, Yvonne is no stuffed shirt; she's a go-go dancer during her off-duty time.

This classic is brought to you by Larry Buchanan (as writer, producer, and director), the same man responsible for "Zontar, the Thing from Venus", another made-for-TV gobbler.
