Admittedly the scenes which depict the arrogance and discrimination of specific White characters is painful, but we need to remember just how different things were in America during that era.

This true story about the turbulent 1960s — and the racial intolerance that almost tore it apart — presents a beacon of hope for our future. When intelligence can overcome rampant stupidity, mankind demonstrates that he deserves to survive and advance.
