The cast of this interesting episode includes Kenneth Toby and Whit Bissell, both of whom arre veterans of 1950s science fiction.

Truman Bradley's opening demonstration focuses on actual experiments pertaining to how radiation affects animals, in hopes of finding ways humans can be protected from it.

The story itself has Kenneth Toby as the security chief at an atomic energy research facility. He's concerned with a key scientist's mental condition and how it might pose a threat to the top secret project.

Whit Bissell plays the scientists whose mental condition has become questionable. He's been acting irritable and impatient, and this behavior is what concerns Kenneth Toby.

A crisis occurs at the research facility when a radioactive dog escapes from his containment unit and wanders off the premises. The dog (a beagle) makes it's way into a nearby residential neighborhood, while personnel in protective suits — carrying Geiger counters — search the area around the research facility.

This story is both imaginative and complex. It strongly resembles a 1950s B movie like The Magnetic Monster, rather than just an episode of a TV series. I suspect the budget for this episode was much higher than most of the others. It's so well done and fast paced that when you watch it, the episode seems much longer than a mere 26 minutes.

And the climax is surprisingly upbeat and optimistic — just the kind of story I love!
