Here's a wiki about it:
https://tommywestphall.fandom.com/wiki/Tommy_Westphall_Universe
It's based on the child character from St. Elsewhere who imagined everything in the show. But since the show is connected to other shows, then he imagined all of those other shows, too.
But I'm more interested in connections between those shows, and several of them involve sci-fi. Some of the connections can be questioned because they involve generic use of names from other works, but they're fun to consider. Here's an example connecting M*A*S*H* to Aliens:
Dr. Mark Craig of St. Elsewhere mentions that B.J. Hunnicut, a character from M*A*S*H, is a former colleague.
The doctors of St. Elsewhere once have a drink at the Cheers bar and is served by Carla.
One of the characters in Cheers is Frasier of Frasier.
In his radio show, Frasier once receives a call from John Hemingway, a character from the John Laroquette Show.
The bus stop in front of the office in that show was built by Yoyodyne.
Yoyodyne is one of the clients of Wolfram and Hart, a law firm mentioned in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and others.
Another client of Wolfram and Hart is Weyland-Yutani, which built ships and weapons in Aliens.
Thus, the sitcom M*A*S*H* belongs to the same universe as Aliens. LOL.
You can make additional connections with Caroline in the City, Mad About You, Friends, Seinfeld, The X-Files, Magnum, P.I., Murder She Wrote, Hawaii 5-0, and even Star Wars and Star Trek. |
