This is wonderful! I had fun answering the commander wheneveer he asked me if my rockets, hatches, etc. were working when I tested them.
There are twelve comments by YouTube users who enjoyed the video. Here's one example from a guy who seems to be German, based his name.
His comment really demonstrates the effect that records like this (and sci-fi TV series) had on kids back in the 1950s.

I was about 5 when I heard this. It used to belong to my brother. I remember finding a box big enough to sit in, and drawing buttons and levers and a window or two. I was pretty artistic even as a 5 year old. I would sit somewhere for hours listening to this or Tale Spinners For Children, another favorite series of mine! I loved spending time with records and my imagination better than just about anything!

Tim, I was so impressed by the delightful video you posted that I spent an hour trying to find similar videos!
So far, the one below is all I've got. It's pretty silly, with songs intersperse with scientific facts, and jokey dialog by the characters in this "trip to the Moon".

Ah yes, those cardboard-box rockets we all flew around the solar system without ever leaving our backyards. 
I remember the big box our new hot water heater came in, around 1955. I was seven of your Earth years old, and I needed to get back to my home planet, Timbuktu.
It was the planet right next to Timbuk-one.
Dad cut one side out of the six-foot-long box and laid it down in the backyard so I could climb in and fix up the interior with wooden knobs and labels drawn on one end. I remember sitting in that cardboard canoe and twiddling those knobs while I cruised the vast reaches of outer space.
But I never made it home to Timbuktu, and now I'm stuck here on this alien planet with the odd name . . .
Dirt (No, that's not it.)
Soil (Nope, that's wrong, too.)
Ah, now I remember! I'm The Bud Who Fell to Earth.
