In memory of Julie Strain:

Quote:
Heavy Metal 2000 (also known as Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.² outside North America) is a 2000 Canadian-German-American adult animated science fiction film produced by Jacques Pettigrew and Michel Lemire, and directed by Michael Coldewey and Lemire. Starring the voices of Michael Ironside, Julie Strain, and Billy Idol, the film is the follow-up to the 1981 animated cult film Heavy Metal, which is based on the fantasy magazine of the same name. The story is based on the graphic novel, The Melting Pot, written by Kevin Eastman, Simon Bisley and Eric Talbot. The film was made by CinéGroupe, a studio based in Montreal, Quebec.

While I didn't care much for the first Heavy Metal film, mostly because the trailer didn't sell it as an anthology film, I really didn't like Heavy Metal 2000.

The animation is not very good and I, frankly, never understood the fascination with Julie Strain, let alone an animated Julie Strain.

The first film at least has some stand-out moments or sequences, the sequel was so forgettable I can't remember anything about it other than Michael Ironside voiced the baddie.

Agreed. Sad

However, the portions of the soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein did include a few pieces that were rousing and heroic, and they inspired me to creature some imaginary scenes for Tarzan at the Earth's Core movie which included the "vacuum tank" Zeppelin which Burroughs described. Very Happy

Poor Julie Strain. She spent her last few years in a home because of suffering from Alzheimer, the result of a fall from a horse as a teenager. The accident wiped out her memories of her early years.
