This is one of the most moving episodes in the series.

It involves an Earth probe that was sent into space several hundred years before Voyager's time, and it carried a wealth of technological data which was intended to help any aliens species who found it.

In short, mankind had very good intentions. Very Happy

But the road to hell is paved with good intentions . . . Evil or Very Mad

By the time Voyager arrives at the planet, several centuries later, the planet is polluted by radiation, and the inhabitants are dying because they misused the technology which the probe provided! Shocked

But the real drama come from the fact that the inhabitants blame mankind for their apocalyptic fate, and they assume that Voyager has arrived to occupy the planet and wipe out the surviving population!

The drama is hig in this well-written episode, one that I think stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best Trek stories from all the franchises.
