Okay, so that's the SCIENCE. Now let's add the FICTION!

If you're a reader of Larry Niven's work you know that spaceship hull's manufactured by the Pearson's Puppeteer company called General Products is transparent and allegedly indestructible. They come in four sizes and shapes, and these two fine works of art below show General Products #2 and #4 hulls. The spherical one is extremely large — 1,000 feet in diameter.
GP only makes the transparent part, and the customer builds the rest of the ship, inside and outside the hull. So, each ship looks very different.
So, this new transparent metal (called alumina glass) is one step closer to the indestructible spaceships described in Neutron Star, the Ringworld series, and other works by Larry. _________________ ____________
