STAR WARS EPISODE VII Officially Titled THE FORCE AWAKENS
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has completed principal photography.
That's how Lucasfilm and Disney announced the official name of Star Wars: Episode VII on Thursday afternoon, in a surprise announcement across social media channels. The name and logo were posted with absolutely no other information. While "Episode VII" doesn't appear in the logo, they have officially been calling this Episode VII since its announcement, and the new "The Force Awakens" logo appears on the StarWars.com Episode VII page. Walt Disney Studios Publicity also emailed a link to the logo which read "Join us at StarWars.com and www.facebook.com/starwars for breaking Star Wars: Episode VII news!"
The subtitle will likely be analyzed like crazy on fansites for the next, oh, thirteen months or so until the release of the film, but on its surface, it makes a lot of sense. If Luke Skywalker did not immediately try to jumpstart a new Jedi order directly after Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, then this "awakening" can occur 30 some odd years later. With principal photography done, this does inch us closer to seeing some type of footage or posters or official shots released sooner, though those aren't likely to come much before the Star Wars Celebration convention in April, 2015.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh episodic live action film in the series, opens in theaters December 18, 2015.....

Is This GIF The First Footage From Star Wars: Episode 7?
Meredith Woerner, I09
Major speculation ahead, but a Star Wars fansite is claiming that this GIF of the Millennium Falcon might be the first-ever bit of footage from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens. What do you think?...
...UPDATE: Commenter KLR_Steve dropped this picture that is allegedly from Star Wars: Episode 7 set. Note the rectangular radar dish. .... This "new" radar dish is rectangular. The original dish was circular, but it was also knocked off at the end of the films. So the original radar dish would have to be replaced, and maybe it was replaced by a rectangular version?

These frames show a suspicious lack of detail. (Read that as "fan made".) Even the "new" radar reflector is just a plain, uniform color, as is most everything else.

Hey, look who's back!
Damn, Butch -- you just strolled into our little spaceport bar and sat down like nothing is new!
Questions, questions, we've got questions!
How are you feeling?
Are you up and around, or just pretended to be sick so folks will bring you cold beers?
Were the nurses pretty?
Did they let you bring any unneeded body parts home in a bell jar?
Don't answer any of these right here, 'cause you've got a special thread for that called News About Butch at this link.

Also... correct me if I'm wrong... the ray blasts are being fired from a rotating red beacon light on top of the ship. The ray blasts are shooting out in a circular pattern as the beacon rotates.
If memory serves, the turret guns on the Falcon were quad cannons that fired in pairs, not in single blasts. _________________ ...or not...

STAR WARS SHORT TRAILER
It's finally here: a first look at the new Star Wars. The teaser trailer runs 88-seconds long and is available to watch online and in theaters starting today. Here's all you need to know: it looks really, really good. The trailer gives a first glimpse at a lot of the new and returning stars, but it also shows just how great a job director J.J. Abrams' appears to have done in putting back together the Star Wars universe. A great score from John Williams elevates that even further. This isn't much for now, but it ought to get fans' hopes way up.

I saw it this morning, in front of Mockingjay.
Meh. Nothing got me excited except the Falcon. We shall see. Even though the movie turned out to be shite, I remember the teasers for Phantom Menace with Yoda's "suffering" speech. (am I remembering the right film?) I was thrilled beyond belief.
I think probably I am jaded thanks to the prequels sucking so much bollock. |

J.J. I'mabum will make a very pretty movie, but the script will be barely tolerable suckage and moronically unrealistic space battles! |

The new rectangular radar dish is confirmed, then. And the Falcon makes vapor trails when maneuvering within a planet's atmosphere. Gosh... the mind boggles. _________________ ...or not...

The scene of the X-wing fighters zipping low over the water was pretty cool, but we all know that the complaints about the most recent Star Wars movies concerned the stories, not the FX. _________________ ____________
