Korinaz has awarded me the honor of posting the latest Movie Facts of the Day Youtube video.
Korinaz sent me a PM with the link to the video and asked me to post it. The PM ended with this cryptic message.
"Watch it 'til the end. A little gift from the production!" _________________ ____________

Impressive - I liked the way they included a few little typing errors in their subtitles, no doubt in a subtle tribute to us here. |

At YouTube™ there is a virtual tour of the Millenium Falcon Solo: A Star Wars Story by none other than Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) himself!

Good lord, that set of the Falcon is absolutely GORGEOUS! I loved the designs of every part we saw. And it was great to see it all so clean!
Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewy were terrible housekeepers! _________________ ____________

And the movie is only about three weeks away now... with Deadpool 2 to keep us going before that!
Alexa has just kindly told me a Star Wars joke. "What's Yoda's favourite dinosaur?" To which the answer is "A Duoceratops - there is no tri!" |

I have never regarded the telling of a pun as an act of kindness. (Although it was funny.) _________________ ...or not...

The movie's average. I suppose they could have worked more on the writing, but I can't provide more details because I've forgotten much of the film. |

The first time I saw this I really didn't care for it.
Recently I watched it again on Netflix and my appreciation of it went up. Don't expect it to be as good as the original trilogy, but it gave a fairly interesting look into the making of Han Solo and Chewbacca.
I'd have to give it a solid C+. Still much better than the prequels. _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

It was great to see the Millennium Falcon with a clean and beautiful interior in this movie.
But the Star Wars tradition of frequently showing starship and other kinds of vehicles which look old, beat up, and neglected has never appealed to me.
Add to this the fact the the Millennium Falcon was plumb ugly on the day it was first built! We all know that it was designed by the original Star Wars crew to look ungainly and unappealing.
But I can't help wishing that we could see it just once in new condition! It wouldn't help much, but I still keep wishing I could see it looking clean and new.
Well, anyway, IMDB has over 200 trivia items for this production. I picked a few of them worth sharing — the first of which relates to my comment about the beautiful interior of the Millennium Falcon.

[size=20]~ The interior Millennium Falcon set on C stage took three months to build. It is the largest interior Falcon set ever made on any Star Wars film due to the addition of new areas.
Note from me: I'm sure they destroyed it after the movie was made. Hollywood is bad about doling that.
~ Harrison Ford revealed that he's seen the movie and thinks it's "phenomenal", but skipped out on the premiere with the rest of the cast because he didn't want to steal Alden Ehrenreich's moment of glory.
Note from me: Mr. Ford is a class act.
~ Han speaks to Chewbacca in the Wookiee language. It's the first time a non-Wookiee speaks the language, and the first time the language is translated on-screen with subtitles.
Note from me: The scene in which Han and Chewy first meet (and the scenes in the rest of the movie) are packed with moments which establish the strong relation between these two.
~ L3-37 was achieved through a combination of practical and computer effects. Phoebe Waller-Bridge wore a costume that consisted of the droid's head, chest, legs, and arms, with a green skintight suit underneath. The green suit was digitally removed in post-production and replaced with mechanical parts, such as cables and wires.
Note from me: While watching this movie recently I was dumbfounded by how this droid was created. It was obviously not an actor in a suit, nor did is seem like pure CGI. The explanation above clears up the matter for me . . . but the manner in which this miracle was achieved is still well over my head.
~ Woody Harrelson was picked over Christian Bale as Han's mentor.
Note from me: Woody nails this role masterfully!
~ The holochess game is animated the same way as it was done in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977): with stop motion animation.
Note from me: Amazing. I assumed that it was CGI, designed to look like stop motion — which would be easy to do.
~ During an interview on The Graham Norton Show (2007), Phoebe Waller-Bridge said that prior to her casting, she had never seen a Star Wars movie, and didn't know what a droid was. She decided to play L3-37 as a human in her audition.
When one of the directors asked her if she could be more "droid-y" while making a mechanical hand gesture, she deduced that droids are robots. Although the casting directors asked her to try it again, they liked her original interpretation of the character, and gave her the part.
Note from me: Excuse me, but what kind of actor goes into a audition for a Star Wars movie without bothering to every watch a single one of the movies?
~ Han's speeder was inspired by the seventies aesthetic and was modeled after Dodge Chargers and Chevy Malibus.
Note from me: Sorry, but I think this is bogus. The speeder was just a rectangular prism with none of the beautiful design features of the Dodge Charger — which I owned one of in the 1970s. It looked like this . . . right down to the color.
~ When Han and Qi'ra kiss aboard the Millennium Falcon, they are in the same room where Han and Leia kiss in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980).
Note from me: If somebody told me I could kiss Emilia Clark and get paid for it, I'd tell them I'd do it for free! _________________ ____________
