Is there any way to see this both clear and larger? How about a download? _________________ ____________

Unfortunately, Eadie, the page Maurice provided the link for is actually the Krell lab (as stated in the right margin,
It's not the house.
The entire Cinefantastique article is in a post that Butch and I create together in the Sci-Fi magazines and fanzines section, using downloads of each page from that same Cinefantastique article in Maurice's link, each page carefully enhanced by me to make them as sharp as possible.
Cinefantastique double issue — Forbidden Planet
Here's the page that Maurice posted the link to. Click on it to see the larger version (which you can do on ALL the pages in the post of the complete article).
The only blueprints the article includes of the house is this one — which Gord, Wayne, and I made extensive use of in our debate about the Henri Hillinick matte painting.

The letters in the film labels are also shaded like chromed letters, with red only at the top. I think those might be rockets or gantries to either side of the word BOURBON. |
You're right about all the differences between the actual bottle labels and the replica shown above.
When I saw the screen grabs of the actual bottles, it confirmed my suspicion that the label shown above is a fan-made version, and whoever made it didn't have a good photo of the actual labels in the movie to use as a reference. _________________ ____________

With pretty much any document on the Archive you can zoom the pages with the controls at the bottom, and you can flip through the entire magazine and do the same to any page. You can even download the item if you scroll down and look for the Download Options to the right. _________________ * * *

The file can be downloaded in a veriaty of formats including PDF. The nice thing is this has the complete issue. There is also a nice article on STAR TREK TMP. _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

I posted several Star Log articles about Star Trek: The Motion Picture in the thread for that movie. Click on the title to see them. _________________ ____________

Cinefantastique double issue rejected cover art:
Fence shorting publicity still:
Ship & rocks reference still:
Maquette reproduction from Star Trek – The Original Series:
Since the maquette is made for every set in movies and TV, I wonder what ever happened to those from Forbidden Planet? _________________ ____________

Eadie, we'd all like to know what supporting evidence you can offer concerning the idea that the set shown above is "Doc Ostrow's infirmary re-dressed for The Invisible Boy".
I don't recall ever seeing anything that showed a set of Ostrow's infirmary, so I'm puzzled by your comment. Is this something Butch told you? If so, we always appreciate Butch's input, but he's occasionally gotten his facts a bit mixed up, and this seems like it might be one of those occasions.
However, I hope you're right about this, so if you can verify your interesting statement, I'll be delighted! _________________ ____________

I know enough about film production to know that they don't build sets not called for in the script. There's no scene that calls for an infirmary/sickbay in the script. And the set in question looks much too big for the C57-D interior. Much as on the old old board there was once a claim that the bridge set from Ikarie XB 1 was a leftover design from Forbidden Planet.
Also, the "Cinefantastique double issue rejected cover art" is a model kit set in front of what appears to be the actual cover art, so I dunno where that caption comes from. _________________ * * *

Way earlier in this extensive and lengthy thread there was a discussin about the radar screen and if the center circle was really there or just a reflection. Well Robby has a present for you:
From The Time Machine (1960) one of the museums rooms:
A close-up of the radar screen:
The center circle IS there! So what is it and what was it supposed to represent? _________________ ____________

Ah, yes! The mysterious white dot!
Eadie, we solved that mystery! It show how far the ship is from it's destination. Just before the ship is about to decelerate and enter the Altair 4 system, it's near the center.
And after the ship has landed, it's right in the middle (and both larger and very faint) to signify that the destination is . . . well . . . all around them!
And it's really faint in your close-up from The Time Machine to signify that the destination is . . . in a different movie!

I found this neat video of a good Robby the Robot replica (bad voice though) along with the "flow board" of The Invisible Boy's computer introducing Forbidden Planet on its 50th anniversary showing in the UK in color!
