Great poster, huh? Zoom in on the small picture of the two girls in baby doll nighties and read the caption. Hot stuff!
The movie is pretty good, too. John Carradine plays a visiting alien who has trouble convincing anybody he's come to Earth with friendly intentions.
To give him a proper "alien" quality, most of the shots of Carradine are superimposed reverse-negative images. The alien heals a crippled child. indicating his good intentions. His space-ship is a 10-ft wide sphere which floats noiselessly in a rocky ravine.
Scientist Bruce Bennett (one of the first screen Tarzans) tries to prevent thickheaded army general Paul Langton ("It! The Terror from Beyond Space") from stealing the aliens ship!
Directed by Herbert Greene from a screenplay by Arthur C. Pierce. Special effects by Charles Duncan. Music by Paul Sawtell and Bert Shefter. The cast includes Angela Greene and Scotty Morrow. _________________ ____________

Whoa, this trailer is a must-see for fans of 1950s sci-fi!
Wait 'till you see all the dramatic text with crazy fonts flying all over the screen, and then hear the great Paul Frees' voice telling you that this is the greatest cinematic thrill since the last cinematic thrill you saw, bar none!

I recently viewed an Image DVD release of this film, one of the Wade Williams editions, so the picture quality was very good. This is a rather typical fifties low-budget sci-fi tale about alien visitation.
The plot hinges on the arrival of a mysterious object from deep space, landing in an area named Stone Canyon (maybe it's Bronson Canyon ). The military (usually represented by Paul Langton as a colonel) investigates and finds what looks like a giant golf ball, hovering about a meter above the ground.
Also on the spot is a preeminent scientist (Bruce Bennett, one of the early film Tarzans, when he went under the name Herman Brix). Soon after, a mysterious figure is prowling around the local town at night, scaring the ladies and making dogs nervous. It must be an alien! (Played by none other than John Carradine).
Much of this plot copies the famous fifties sf film from the start of that decade, The Day the Earth Stood Still. It revolves around the more advanced alien visitor, his impenetrable ship, the suspicious military, the understanding scientist and even a local woman and her crippled son who figure into the story.
The alien seeks lodging and the woman runs the local inn. Though not without interest — it's a fairly intelligent plot about both mankind's doltishness and its potential through scientific inquiry — but it's still pretty slow, talky and derivative.
Some of the spare FX are also interesting — especially the depiction of the slightly transparent Cosmic Man when he's not just a man wearing a hat and sunglasses. Carradine's role is rather small, however, and the real star is Bennett.

I hope this is the same movie. It's in 1080p resolution:

I found it by accidentally entering "The Cosmic Man 1959" instead of "1958" in Google.
Here's the general process for searching for higher resolutions:
Enter the title and year in Google.
Switch to the video tab. Click "Tools" and select the longest duration and "High Quality."
To download, one can use an online site or one of the apps I gave in the other forum. Browser addons usually download only until 720p resolution. |

Thanks for the link, Ralfy. My Firefox attachment will only download this YouTube video at 360p max (I can get higher resolutions, but the sound track is muted), so what "other forum" are you referring to? |
