"Mortal Engines" was released by Universal Pictures on December 14, 2018 and adapted from the Philip Reeves novel of the same name.
Synopsis: Following a cataclysmic conflict known as the Sixty Minute War, in circa 3119, remnants of humanity regroup and construct massive mobile cities called "Traction Cities."
"Municipal Darwanism" is the dogma that larger predator cities have the mandate to hunt and absorb smaller settlement cities.
Filmed entirely in Wellington, New Zealand with a budget of $100,000,000 to $150,000,000.
Just saw this steampunk film on TV this past weekend.
I was knocked out at the phenomenal production values in this gigantic eye-candy of a film.
The sets are fantastic looking, the CGI is astonishing.
Good cast to boot.
Now, I cannot declare this is a five star sci~fi film. It employs movie tropes we have often seen for elements of its plot to be sure.
But it is a fun and entertaining romp, especially for lovers of steampunk. |

I remember the trailer on TV for this film but, for whatever reason, never saw the movie. I have Netflix too so will keep my eye out for it as it looked fantastic, at least in the trailer. |

_ The Real Reason Mortal Engines Was A Massive Flop
__________
I'm sadden by the fact this exciting and imaginative movie was not the hit is should have been, but the one small "up side" to this is that Amazon is selling the Blu-ray for the paltry sum of $7.99!
Hell's bells, that's about what I pay for a 15-pack of Milwaukee's Best Ice, the malt liquor I drink in moderation (or to be more exact, in freezer cups like these) —
— to relax and enjoy great movies like Mortal Engines!
