Well, it couldn't be the Russians or Chinese in the late 40's.
So....If not aliens it must be -----
NAZIS!!!
The first widely-reported UFO sighting in the US was near Mount Rainier, Washington, on June 24, 1947, by Kenneth Arnold.
The similarity of these nine "crescent-shaped" flying objects (wrongly reported as saucer-shaped) to the Horten Ho 229 "flying wing" was not lost on Project Sign – the first official US Air Force UFO investigation.
In 1959, Captain Edward Ruppelt, the first head of Project Blue Book – Project Sign's follow-up investigation – wrote: "When WW2 ended, the Germans had several radical types of aircraft and guided missiles under development.
"The majority were in the most preliminary stages but they were the only known craft that could even approach the performance of objects reported by UFO observers."
In 1952, Professor Giuseppe Belluzzo, an Italian scientist and former member of the Italian Fascist Mussolini regime – which was allied with Nazi Germay – revealed in a newspaper article that "types of flying discs were designed and studied in Germany and Italy as early as 1942".
The Nazis landed a spaceship on the moon 27 years before American astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped on the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission.
Adolf Hitler ordered the crew of the Third Reich astronauts to visit the moon in 1942, in the middle of World War II.
Many fans of this conspiracy believe that Nazi astronauts walked on the surface of the moon using a rocket ship developed by Hitler’s best scientists.
Bulgarian researcher Dr. Vladimir Terziski claims to have evidence of a successful Reich mission. The engineer and physicist suggested that the Germans developed a space program with their Japanese allies in World War II.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Terziski lectures around the world about his crazy theory.
He even claims that the Germans created a base on the moon after the end of World War II. This is due to the allegations of the defeated Nazis who fled to Antarctica after the war and led their secret space program from there.
It was said that Nazi scientists led by SS General Hans Kammler, who oversaw Hitler’s missile program, were behind this.
According to Dr. Terziski’s lectures, the secret Antarctic base was called “Neuschwabenland.”
He also claims that the tests were conducted from Nazi secret shelters in South America, where many leading officers fled.
The expert believes that the rapid increase in the number of UFO sightings since the 1940s was a test of Nazi ships.
The scientist also said: “The Germans landed on the moon as early as probably 1942, utilizing their larger exo-atmospheric rocket saucers of the Miethe and Schriever type.
Ever since their first day of landing on the moon, the Germans started boring and tunneling under the surface, and by the end of the war there was a small Nazi research base on the moon.”
Yeah...That makes more sense than aliens! _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

The above post is meant to be taken in a farcical vein....But there is a bit of truth as well.
As I said.....
The first widely-reported UFO sighting in the US was near Mount Rainier, Washington, on June 24, 1947, by Kenneth Arnold. He reported a flight of crecsent shaped ships "skipping like a saucer on water".
The similarity of these nine "crescent-shaped" flying objects (wrongly reported as saucer-shaped) to the Horten Ho 229 "flying wing" was not lost on Project Sign – the first official US Air Force UFO investigation.
On 12 March 1945, nearly a week after the U.S. Army had launched Operation Lumberjack to cross the Rhine River, the Ho 229 was included in the Jäger-Notprogramm (Emergency Fighter Program) for accelerated production of inexpensive "wonder weapons".
The prototype workshop was moved to the Gothaer Waggonfabrik (Gotha) in Friedrichroda, western Thuringia. In the same month, work commenced on the third prototype, the Ho 229 V3.
The V3 was larger than previous prototypes, the shape being modified in various areas, and it was meant to be a template for the pre-production series Ho 229 A-0 day fighters, of which 20 machines had been ordered.
The V3 was meant to be powered by two Jumo 004C engines, with 10% greater thrust each than the earlier Jumo 004B production engine used for the Me 262A and Ar 234B, and could carry two MK 108 30 mm cannons in the wing roots.
During the final stages of the war, the U.S. military initiated Operation Paperclip, an effort to capture advanced German weapons research, and keep it out of the hands of advancing Soviet troops.
A Horten glider and the Ho 229 V3, which was undergoing final assembly, were transported by sea to the United States as part of Operation Seahorse for evaluation.
On the way, the Ho 229 spent a brief time at RAE Farnborough in the UK, during which it was considered whether British jet engines could be fitted, but the mountings were found to be incompatible with the early British turbojets, which used larger-diameter centrifugal compressors as opposed to the slimmer axial-flow turbojets the Germans had developed.
The Americans were just starting to create their own axial-compressor turbojets before the war's end, such as the Westinghouse J30, with a thrust level only approaching the BMW 003A's full output.
So, who knows? Perhaps the whole UFO situation does have a Nazi origin at heart.
The US space program certainly does!

NASA is setting a team to conduct a scientific study into the existence of “unidentified aerial phenomena” — popularly known as UFOs.
from Bloomberg
UAPs are things observed in the sky that cannot be identified as aircraft or be explained by natural phenomena. UFOs carry the implication that there’s a connection to alien spacecraft, so it’s usually avoided in this context. What NASA is doing is looking at what data is even out there.
“When you’re looking for life on Mars, you start with a hypothesis you want to test,” astrophysicist David Spergel, the study lead and president of the Simons Foundation, said in a news conference today. “This is a phenomenon we don’t understand and we want to collect more data on.”
The study will begin in the early fall and take about nine months to complete, costing no more than $100,000, said Daniel Evans, the assistant deputy associate administrator for research at NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. It will rely mainly on open data, and the resulting report will be published in full and NASA will hold meetings to discuss its findings with the public.
NASA’s study adds to a growing interest in de-stigmatizing what are generally called UFO sightings. In May, Congress held the first hearing into unidentified flying objects since the 1960s. Pentagon and intelligence officials urged the public to report sightings as a matter of national security at that hearing. While this study is not part of the Department of Defense’s task force established in 2021 and charged with identifying and addressing UAPs, Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator for science at NASA, says the scientific interest and aviation safety issues have spurred the group to launch the inquiry now.
Zurbuchen said the study won’t establish whether there is intelligent life beyond Earth, but it might help researchers get a little closer to being able to answer the question.
“At this moment in time, with the evidence that we have, it would be hard to find irrefutable evidence for an event being one or the other,” he said. “I do believe that says very little about the events themselves, it just says something about the availability of data, which is exactly why were doing this.” _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

Let's have a little fun examining this whole NASA investigation of UFO's.
First they change the name from UFO to UAP. That's because people get ridiculed for claiming they saw a UFO. Ah, but if somebody claims they saw an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon, that's completely different!
Then they get a team of scientist from NASA to study the subject. (You know, scientifically.) That way nobody can dispute their findings. (Because they're, you know, scientists!)
Consider this statement by Daniel Evans, the assistant deputy associate administrator for research at NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. (Try to say THAT ten time fast! )
"The study will begin in the early fall and take about nine months to complete, costing no more than $100,000."
Impressive!
But wait a minute . . .
How does Mr. Evans know how long it will take to complete this study?
What if they haven't found an answer after nine months? Will they just quit?
What if they run out of money after only eight months? Will they quit early — even if an answer seems within their grasp?
Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator for science at NASA, made this profound statement.
“At this moment in time, with the evidence that we have, it would be hard to find irrefutable evidence for an event being one or the other.”
Translation: "We don't have enough evidence now to figure out what these things are, and we don't expect to find irrefutable evidence that will answer the question."
Jeez, he's admitting the project is doomed to failure — but he said it in a way that doesn't make that meaning very clear!
However, supposed they DO find "irrefutable evidence for an event being one or the other.” If they tell us that most of the events are just hoaxes, optical illusions, etc., people will think it's a government cover-up.
On the other hand, if they find out that even ONE of the sightings is "irrefutable evidence" of extraterrestrial life . . . this will allegedly throw civilization into chaos!
After all, everybody knows what the military thinks about us civilians!
