[also release as "The Net"]
M7 is a new supersonic aircraft being designed and tested at a secret research base.
One of the project members turns out to be an enemy spy. This low-key British entry fails to offer much excitement, but it does contain some good aerial scenes.
Directed by Anthony Asquith. Starring Phyllis Calvert, James Donald ("Five Million Years to Earth), and Herbert Lom ("Mysterious Island"). _________________ ____________

...and sound effects. The miniature work (effects by Albert Whitlock) and the sound of the jet engines whooshing by combine to sell the flight scenes.
They apparently wanted to show off the aircraft filming miniature more than in just the flying scenes, so they displayed it as a model in the engineering office, with lots of fondling and admiring.

Good lord, it's a beauty! And it's designed to take off and land from the water apparently. Nice. _________________ ____________

James Donald was also in the terrific movie from 1963 The Great Escape.
Herbert Lom was fantastic in anything I ever saw him in.
As fine as James Mason is as Captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, I preferred Lom's Nemo in Mysterious Island. |

I've been eager to see this movie for years, and YouTube finally has it! The FX of the aircraft on the ground and in flight are very good!
Here's what the test pilots look like in the cockpit. Cool!
