And here's a new topic from the new guy.

I just posted on this elsewhere, this is a favorite of mine from seeing it on low-power TV stations as a young adult.

I try not to watch films too often so as not to "wear them out", and it has been almost 9 years since I last watched this. Problem is this is public domain, at least the American dubbed version seems to be. I only had the crappy Alpha version, so faded and choppy, not even framed correctly.

As I posted in the TERROR BENEATH THE SEA thread, I'm in a period where I'm watching non-Toho Japanese genre stuff. Got the urge to see this again, but when I put on the old disc I just couldn't stand it, getting spoiled by blu-ray and a new projector and all since my last viewing.

A little digging led me to a version from Sinister Cinema that I've ordered, as it also supposedly has the original Japanese version.

Then, I see this on You Tube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQvKC9brzZY

Not bad, at least compared to what I've ever seen before!

If you don't know, this is the first Japanese Sci-Fi in color, predating RODAN by a few months. It's a bit of a mash-up of WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE and THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, but of course with that unique 50's Japanese charm. I'm sure some will find it tedious or juvenile or whatever, but for me it has great nostalgic pleasures.

Anybody else like this one?

Warning from Space AKA Mysterious Satellite 宇宙人東京に現わる Uchūjin Tokyo Ni Arawaru (Spacemen Appear in Tokyo) was released in January 1956.

What I like about the above poster card is that the saucers pre-date The Invaders (ABC 1967 - 1968).

The warning;

The planet "R":

The protagonists:

The antagonists:

Holy mackerel, the picture is remarkable for a file that's only 254MB, and it downloaded with Savefrom.net in about two minutes flat!

I'm going to ask Bulldogtrekker, the moderator of the All Sci-Fi's Movie Room, to add it to the library there.

Of course, he and I will have to watch it to insure it doesn't contain offensive scenes, like naked geisha girls being probed by aliens! Shocked

Sadly, only full-frontal starness (all 5 points visible!)

This is actually a very enjoyable bit of Japanese Sci-fi, and despite a handful of shortcomings, this is one that I watch from time to time.

I purchased the digital version from Amazon a while back, and have always found it a great late-late night watch.

The Starfish creatures with the big ol' eyeball in the center of their bodies always amuses me.

So could these aliens be the inspiration for the DC Comics Starro extraterrestrial villain? Starro made his debut in March of 1960 in the Brave & the Bold comic which also was the debut for the Justice League of America.

Starro The Conqueror made his feature film debut in the Suicide Squad sequel that was released on August 5, 2021.

I well remember buying this comic book when it first debuted. I was excited to see so many DC superheroes teamed up in one comic. Starro looked awesome too.

I remember being excited by this same issue and the introduction of the Justice League. I loved the panel shown below, which showed the superheroes sitting at the conference table in their headwaters, discussing the new alien threat.

Wikipedia says it was located in a hollowed out mountain, which explains the appearance of the wall on the left.

Note Wonder Woman's plane in the background, and the lounge on the far right. At the upper level is a tech station with complex electronics.

Cool, eh? Cool
