The article contains this paragraph as the premise of the piece. And like . . . wow, what a concept!

So, we're on the verge of being able to do on purpose what evolution does by accident (and a whole lot better than evolution does it).
All those movies and TV shows about mutant abilities — X-Men, Alphas, Heroes, etc. — just got a much better explanation for the reason some people have superhuman powers than "it just happened". _________________ ____________
