I saw him on Broadway as Sherlock Holmes in the musical BAKER STREET. He was fabulous. Great body of work.

And very well done!
I hate to be "that guy" but I assumed Fritz Weaver died years ago . It annoys me when people say that but full disclosure forces me to admit that I'm the doofus this time.
Fortunately 90 years is a good run so no need for sadness. I loved him the "Third from the Sun"...an episode of The Twilight Zone. And I think he saved the movie FAIL SAFE (he seemed to specialize in roles involving nuclear apocalypse). Overall, I thought Fail Safe was a bit of a stinker but Weaver really elevated it...quite a job considering that it also starred Henry Fonda and Walter Matthau.

He was one of those familiar faces that populated so many TV productions. I'm only now fully appreciating how much "comfort value" there was in seeing certain actors showing up repeatedly in various roles during my youth. _________________ ...or not...

Agreed,guys. I can't believe he's gone either.
I already posted an invitation on the CHFB, but I"m extending it to you too. I'm thinking of doing a chat/ memorial to him sometime. We'd watch Fail Safe, his film debut and one of his finest performances.
Let me know if you'd interested. Maybe we'd chat on kiwi. |
