The Geminid Meteor shower reaches its peak next Tuesday.
The article speculates a little about its origins, apparently Jupiter's orbit pushed the dust tail from the comet Phaethon into our orbital path, giving rise to the Geminid showers around the mid 19th c.

Around here it can be clear every day right up until the day (night) of the shower, then boom. Clouds. Or at least a heavy haze. But it's been cloudy every day lately anyway, so prospects are slim. _________________ ...or not...
