In one of, I believe, Isaac Asimov's robot stories he wrote to assuage the fears of the people with regard to a revolt of robots. He wrote, to the best of my recollection, that you wouldn't fear an attack by your kitchen toaster.

Well, it's happened. Listening to the radio today I heard of cyber hacking that attacked some major websites by overloading them, thereby denying service to their customers. It was initiated through the use of wireless networking built into modern household appliances, such as refrigerators, which often lack adequate or any security protocols.
