Oddly enough, my favorite Don Rickles role has him playing a very unlikable fellow who makes life hell for Debbie Reynolds and actually backhands her hard in one scene! The movie is The Rat Rat (1960).
Don could do drama as well as comedy! _________________ ____________

Indeed, Rickles began his showbiz career as a TV and film actor. He had a memorable role as a sleazy carnival owner in X: The Man with X-Ray Eyes (1963), starring Ray Milland. |

And let us not forget his (brief) career as a comics character...

From The Times this morning:
Quote: | Don Rickles, who died last week, once spotted Frank Sinatra while on a date. "Do you know him?" his date asked. The comic said that he was in fact friends with Ol' Blue Eyes and went over to chat. "I'm really trying to impress this girl," he told him. "Would you do me a big favour and come over and say hello?" Sinatra agreed and five minutes later strolled over to their table: "Don, how the hell are you?" Rickles smiled and replied, "Not now, Frank. Can't you see I'm with somebody?" |
