Well, the version you found doesn't quiet fit with this group of songs, but I thought I had ncluded the one below in Sci-Fi Love Themes and Rock Riffs from the 50s and 60s! Somehow I omitted it.
Anyway, it's there now!

There is a FBXL5 music video- not by the original artists- that is worth watching, if for no reason other than that it answers this age-old question: How does one play a horn while wearing a space helmet?

Alltare, this is magnificent! I added it to the thread called Sci-Fi Love Themes and Rock Riffs from the 50s and 60s.
Thanks!

Here's the full video, the first half of which is a CGI space battle! Pretty cool.

Pretty cool, for sure. Dominic Halpin had just the right voice for the old song.
I still think that the way Fireball XL5 takes off is the most logical way of getting a spaceship into orbit and beyond - maybe somebody needs to show the relevant footage to NASA...?
https://youtu.be/M26fZ4O9qus has some interesting still images to accompany the (extended) song... |

No doubt about it, Brent, somebody needs to produce "Fireball XL5 - The Musial"! If Star Trek can be turned into a musical, so could this great show. _________________ ____________

But who should take the lead role? Dominic Halpin or Craig Ferguson, it's hard to choose...
And who could play Venus? In one of the clips from the show, I was impressed with the way the character was able to keep smiling even when telling us about an enormous bomb heading towards Earth, more powerful than a thousand H-bombs! And should Venus wear blue jeans, to bring in another catchy number from years gone by...? |

You've raised some excellent points, Custer!
And you've suggested a wonderful song to that should be added to this thread, since it's called Songs about the Stars, the Planets, and the Moon! — which I just did, to the original post above!
It even made me think of another appropriate song, which I also added to our playlist!
Is All Sci-Fi a great message board or what? _________________ ____________

Strictly speaking, Jimmy Clanton's "Venus in Blue Jeans" and Frankie Avalon's "Venus" are about the goddess, not the planet. Ditto for Shocking Blue's "Venus."
But . . . close enough for government work, as they say. |

Well, the planet is named after the goddess, so Bud's on the same page.
Ah well, plenty of other planets, and gods. I don't think there are any songs about Uranus yet, though... |

Funny thing about "Uranus".
When Herschel discovered it he wanted to name it "George" After King George III....but he was outvoted by the London Academy of Science who decreed that planets must be named after Greek-Roman gods or dieties. |
