Randy Everett sent me a burned Blu-ray of this movie, but I kept putting off watching it.
Now I can't find the damn thing.
I've put it on my Netflix list, so I'll have it by next week. But just to get a thread started on All Sci-Fi, here's what Wikipedia article says about the plot.

In 2011, a deadly pathogenic virus has killed 99% of the Earth's population, forcing the survivors to regroup and scatter across the Earth.
404 years later, in late 2415, all of the survivors inhabit Bregna, a walled futuristic city-state, which is ruled by a congress of scientists. Although Bregna is largely an idyllic place in the destroyed Earth, people routinely disappear and the population suffers from nightmares.
A skilled warrior, named Æon Flux, is a member of the Monicans, an underground rebel organization who communicate through telepathy-enabling technology and are led by the Handler. After a mission to destroy a surveillance station, Æon comes home to find her sister Una has been mistaken for a Monican and killed.
When Æon is sent on a mission to kill the government's leader, Trevor Goodchild, she discovers that both she and the Monicans are being manipulated by council members in a secret coup.

I loved the animated version which was shown as a serial on MTV a few years ago..
This looks like a very close adaptation of that series. |

Apparently it's important not to be burdened by too much clothing with you're fighting bad guys. And I'm sure this affects their aim when they shot at the heroine.
When are they going to make a movie about a female who fights evil while running around stark naked . . . except for spike-heeled boots. _________________ ____________

Filming had to be suspended for a month while Charlize Theron recovered from a serious neck injury she received when performing a stunt in the movie.
Director Karyn Kusama said that the studio took the film away from her and heavily re-edited it, changing storylines and characters. The studio felt that her version was too much an art film.
Like Gord Green, I am a huge fan of the MTV animated series. |

Thanks for that fine post, Pow.
It occurred to me that we tend to think it's always a bad thing when studio heads take away control of a film because they disagree with the director. And of course, there are plenty of examples of this happening with tragic results.
But I'll bet there have been times when that happened and the end result were an improvement in the production.
Just a thought, folks. _________________ ____________

I agree with you, Bud. It's easy & lazy to always cast the film studios or television networks in the role of villain regarding production alterations that they make on a project that angers a director or scripter. They certainly are guilty of ruining someone's vision in numerous instances, of that, I have no doubt. However, it is unrealistic that the studios & networks are wrong in each and every situation. |
