Japan's answer to "War of the Worlds" was one of the most ambitious and enjoyable imports during the 1950s, handsomely decked out with futuristic sets, fleets of flying saucers, giant war-robots, and alien refugees from the recently demolished planet of Mystroid.
The humanoid aliens (dressed in Flash Gordon-like costumes) want to mate with our women and save their dying race.
Director Inoshiro Honda was Japan's leading sci fi film maker ("Godzilla", "Rodan", many others). _________________ ____________

Boy, with lines like that in the trailer, you can bet the boys were fightin' to be first in the ticket line for this Japanese sci-fi thriller.
The FX are ambitious, if not overly realistic, and the bags of popcorn never had a chance when the mesmerized audience sat down to watch this glitzy opus.
Enjoy the trailer. It's a gasser! And the picture quality is excellent.

What I liked about this one was the variety of weapons employed by both sides of the conflict. Ordinarily we see the Earth forces relying on a single "ace in the hole" to defeat the invading aliens. _________________ ...or not...

On the old board that died I posted this poduction design from The Mysterians (1957). I hope these production designs please everyone. (Eadie found this and many others, including those on Gorath (1962) with BTS shots!)
