Thomas Morgan Woodward (September 16, 1925 – February 22, 2019) was an American actor, best known for his roles (to us Star Trek fans) as Dr. Simon van Gelder, a deputy director of a facility for the criminally insane in Dagger of the Mind and as Captain Ron Tracey in The Omega Glory.
He also played Crewman Nichols in Forbidden Planet.

Sad news indeed. He was really good in a TOS episode (Omega Glory) that had some unfortunate story flaws, but he makes it well worth watching.
And I did NOT know he was in Forbidden Planet!
