About Today's Featured Threads
The Neutral Zone is the final episode of the first season, and frankly it suffers from some ridiculous dialog. Three people are discovered in an old ship with cryogenic chambers, and Gene Roddenberry’s belief that that the future won’t have silly things like money and televisions always makes is explained. Those statements always make me chuckle. The 20th Century folks are told that the people in the future don’t watch the boob tube, they do things to “better themselves”.

The Child is the first episode from season two, the one in which Deanna Troi is impregnated by a floating spark of light and goes through motherhood right up the point where the kid appears about six years old — all before the closing credits! The kid never becomes a threat, and never much help either, so I wasn’t impressed with the concept.

Where Silence Has Lease is a somewhat frustrating episode, because the Enterprise encounters a god-like being in a region of black space who gets his jollies tormenting lesser beings. I might have liked this episode better if Q had shown up and figuratively spanked the little asshole for his rudeness! Now THAT would have been a satisfying conclusion.
